Rezident SAH 2022
Așteptarea este o pauză de la productivitatea capitalistă exacerbată. Este un purgatoriu între prezent și viitor. Un hibrid între realitate și aspirație.
În mediul rural momentele de așteptare sunt adesea legate de ciclul naturii și al vieții: așteptarea să plouă, să se facă vreme buna, să vină copiii în vizită, să sune nepoții etc. Ioana Țurcan și Pablo Ramirez au conceput filmul “Lifelike: as we wait” precum un tribut al timpului care pare că se oprește în loc. Chestionează rolul pe care viața rurală îl joacă ca spațiu care poate emancipa timpul din vâltoarea producției capitaliste. Privește către viața rurală ca o cameră de așteptare.

“Lifelike: as we wait” gândește viața animalelor din perspectiva dinamicilor de putere dintre ele și săteni, dependența oamenilor de existența lor, nevoia de mâncare, rolul lor în muncă și productivitate.
“Am ales să ne concentrăm atenția pe păsări, albine și câini ca părți importante ale ecosistemului ce influențează resursele sau chiar lipsa acestora.”
Ioana Țurcan se autodefineste ca agricultor, dar alter-ego este regizor de film, artist interdisciplinar și uneori producător cultural. Ioana a lucrat în format experimental, arte performative, a creat expoziții pentru galerii și spații publice pe subiecte ce privesc ecosistemul ca o serie de conexiuni, legături de familie, precum și procesul pierderii. A dezvoltat inițiative locale de a facilita accesul la educația artistică, organizând ateliere de fotografie pe film, scriere creativă și regie de film.
Pablo Ramírez González este un artist vizual stabilit recent în Wrocław, Poland, unde lucrează pentru doctorat la Școala Doctorală a Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design. Pablo și-a concentrat practica explorând forme de pedagogie alternativă și practici de decolonizare. Este un membru a Los Salvajes și fondator Alquimia Social. Cercetarea lui recentă investighează posibilitățile colaborării dintre specii prin exercițiul empatiei radicale inspirat de practicile indigene de a asculta plantele în profunzime și procesul țesăturilor în sunet.

Waiting can be a break from the strong capitalist productivity. It can also mean a limbo between the present and the future. A hybrid between reality and aspirations.
In rural areas there is this sense of waiting related to nature and life as well: people are waiting for the rain, for the good weather to come, for their children to come home, for grandchildren to call etc. Ioana Țurcan and Pablo Ramirez made their video project “LIFELIKE: as we wait” as a tribute to a time that seems to stand still. It questions the role of rural life as a space that can emancipate time from the stream of capitalist production. The film looks at rural life as a waiting room.

“LIFELIKE: as we wait” reflects on the life of living animals in the village, the power dynamics between them and the locals, the dependency they have on the animals, the need for food and the role they play in local productivity.
“We decided to focus our attention on birds, bees and dogs as they are a huge part of our current ecosystem influencing its dynamics, resources or their scarcity.”
Ioana Țurcan (avis. ana) )sees herself mostly as a farmer but her alter-egos are present through her work as a filmmaker, interdisciplinary artist and sometimes a cultural producer. Ioana has worked with experimental formats and performative media, creating exhibitions for galleries and public spaces on different ecosystem-related topics as landscape connections, family ties and the process of living with loss.
In the past years, she has co-developed local initiatives to foster access to visual/art education and cultural production, facilitating workshops on analogue photography, creative writing, contact sports and filmmaking.
Since 2021 she is part of a duo called Uncertain Space, dealing with topics of caregiving, rituals and physical dependency and a transnational artist collective, An Office, which was present this summer at Documenta 15 (Kassel, Germany) and Fotograf Festival (Prague, Czech Republic) with the itinerant intervention called Dead Dove:Do Not Eat, scheduled to be showcased in Timișoara at Centrul de Proiecte în November.
Pablo Ramírez González is a visual artist based currently in Wrocław, Poland, where he is a Ph.D. candidate at the Doctoral School in the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design.
Pablo has focused his practice on exploring forms of collectivity, alternative pedagogies, and decoloniality. He is a member of the collective Los Salvajes and founder of Alquimia Social, an ongoing process of collaboration that creates counter spaces of collective knowledge.
His recent research investigates the possibilities of collaboration between species through the exercise of radical empathy inspired by the indigenous practices of deep listening to plants and the process of weaving networks of sound.
